Wow!

Well, another year gone already. So many things happening in a short period of time. For me, the year was all about music, hard study, horses, beer, hopeless teachers, German girls, and pretty much anything else!

Here's just a few things from the world of Mitch M in 2010
I now have Friends in Hanover, Germany
I turned eighteen and quickly introduced myself to Beer and Galliano
I spent countless hours buying, sorting, and playing (hopefully) the hottest new dance music around
I busted my ass to get an OP 7 (yes I am going to boast, to all you haters jam it!)
I can now get into law!
I still don't have a love life (Mrs Palmer, be available tonight and I won't be paying you)
I thought I'd met a real hotty before finding out she was getting married (grrrrr, she some hotness!)
I almost told certain teachers where to go, but I didn't so I will now, for all the shit they caused for me while I busted my ass
Mrs C, fuck you
Mr. S, You are a useless wanker!
Mrs H, grow a brain, or start using the pea sized one you have
Mrs S, just smile! Bleh!

I didn't use full nnames for obvious reasons. For all those who did give me assistance and support this, I wholeheartedly thank you...

I had a punt, and lost a punt at the Melbourne Cup. Maybe next year Holberg!

1. The Girl of my Dreams (if you can)
Someone with a gentle nature, a kind and respectful personality, and a sexy voice for good measure. I was once told that the girl of my dreams would be the out-doorsy kind, so I don't mind. Whether out doors, or on boats, or anything of that nature, I don't care.

2. An animal with which I can connect.
I would like to at some stage get a cockatoo, or really friendly dog or cat which I can connect with like other people.

3. A screaming crowd going crazy to the music I play
Its often a dj's dream to have a crowd go shitless to the stuff they play. This is my dream as well.

4. An opertunity to meat Sash!, Askillz and Tears for Fears.
I would like th meat and thank these band for the influence they have had on both me and my music.

G'Day Goldies. Seems like a long time since my last post but it's only been a week. But, I had a bloody fantastic holiday so that is probably why.

I have decided not to do the top 10 tracks of the moment. I will stick with the top 20.

I came up with the idea of doing a monthly compilation chart ages ago. But, I have decided to bring it back, in a more organised (I hope) format. Schoolies! here I come!

A whole week of party, party, party, and not much else. Lying around on the beech, boat cruises, bowling, live music, movies, shopping, chillaxing, well what more could I ask for. Hence the reason I won't be posting for about a week after tomorrow morning.

I am pondering some changes relating to my chart. As there is so much new and gold music out there, I often find it difficult to pick the best to fit in to my Gold Retrospective each week. Then a week later, I may not be into that track like I was last week. The fact that I spin so many genres doesn't make it easier. So, I am prepared to trial a new version of my chart. My top 10 tracks at the moment. I could be daily, weekly, fortnightly. Whenever. Whether there will or won't be consistancies doesn't matter. As I said, this is only a trial, so, it may not be perminant. But let's see how we go!

Something I've wanted to say for a long, long, time

Hip hip hooray! I'm outta school so I now can say whatever the hell I like about it

The Queensland Education system is rooted and if it wasn't for a few shining stars, we would be in the shit, real bad, like the slums.

Fuck the system! and everything about it!

It is time for new beginnings, a new train of thought, and the end of constant burocracy and endless negative turmoil that made both myself, and my fellow blind students feel like an absolute pile of good for nothing crap.

My introduction to the world of Groggy adventures!

Finally! The exams are all finally over, now it's time to party!

To celebrate, my cuz and me went to our local for a few. What I will say is that the night started off good, then started getting better very quickly.

Within two minutes of arriving, we ran into our uncle and his friend (who is the manager of the club) who began shouting us drinks. Within an hour, I had had three scooners, a record for me considering it usually takes me a few hours to get through two beers.

To set the scene, the band is rocking the shit out of the place, the beer is good, and the jokes are getting dirty, very dirty.

Then, it starts getting random. This guy comes up to me and says, here, open your arms, hold this baby. I didn't know what to say really, and I ended up saying that the baby wanted to dance, as she kept trying to get of my lap. Half an hour later, this guy preceeds to approach me again, and tell me that when dancing, it's ok to drop your girl on her head, but not a baby. By now I'm getting a bit freaked out. Meanwhile my cousin is just pissing himself laughing about the whole thing, not believing what he is seeing.

Now bring on the Galliano. I only had one, but I still felt it later. Now a bit loud and wobbly, I now knew what the word tipsy meant. Then my cousin starts doing tequila shots. Well, I think it was time to come home. My head hurt. Then I crashed.

I'm Frazzled!

Hours of revising, revising, revising, memorising and then memorising again maths formulas does not do the head any good. To fill you in, the maths exam is tomorrow. Three hours of hard yards and that's it, until wednesday, when history comes around (I'll breeze that one). It's hard to find time to research the latest music when interest, mean, median, mode, ogive, data comparison, credit cards, commition, frequency distribution, project networks, critical paths and slack time, quartile ranges, and about a million other things are going through my head.

The things that happen to a nerd!

Here are just a few of the things that happened to me this week, while in my nerdy state trying to get a bloody good OP.

I've got a mix of maths questions and history information bouncing around in my mind
I went to a Melbourne Cup function rather than study for my exams
I began studying at 5.40 am on numerous occasions
I finnished studying at 9.20 pm on one occasion
I haven't written my Gold Retrospective due to my exam preparation (it's coming goldies, just bear with me!)
I began studying at 5.30 am this morning so I could shop till I droped, and that's pretty much what I did
I got so tied up with maths questions that only this morning did I realise that I had handed in only two of three required references for school, and I had to make my friend hand it in for me. I'm a real Ozzie!
To cap it off, In my haste to return to a maths question, I dropped chicken ciao min all over the carpet, and had to clean it. Failure!

Holy shit!

It's amazing just how many things a person can forget to do at this time of year. When study gets on top of you, you often start to forget the major things, like uni preferences, school clearence forms, and even just the mundane shit like dates and times!. Well, I reckon uni will be a real eyeopener for me. I've always tried to just remember things, never had a diary or anything, and always got by. But, uni is ten times more hard than what my life is like at the moment. Really, I'd better get my shit together and be more organised with these kind of things. Having the OP I want is quite useless if I can't get forms and dates organised.

I admit, I should eat my words, because, I hate unorganised people!

We All Speak Americane

Well, what can I say. I will start with the fact that my support for Holberg didn't pay off. Well, it didn't even place. I guess there is always next year. Even though I had money each way on both Holberg and Shootout, I was still unlucky.

Now, everyone is singing Americano, or, actually, Americane. It was a surprise to all, particularly me, who hadn't heard of the horse until a few days ago, but good on them. Not only is it the first Melbourne Cup one by a Frenchman, but it's the 150th Cup. There's something to celebrate.

Melbourne Cup here again at last!

Well, I really can't believe it. The Melbourne Cup has finally arrived again. I've always had an interest in it, but this is the first year I have really taken notice of it (to set the scene for you peeps, as I write this, I am trying to smack the shit out of a mozzie that's flying around my leg, and it's not working! piss off mozzie!)

For me, this years Cup will be about a day at the dogs, of all things considering it's a day for the horses, a few coldies, possibly a punt if I'm could be bothered, and just a good day out.

As for the punt, I'll say Holberg, just because my grandfather (who is a horseracing phonatic) says so. Don't quote me on it, when it comes to racing, I have no idea what I'm talking about! (what's an exacta?).

Hey Goldies. It's amazing just how many things that go through a person's head at this time of year. Oh my god, where do I start.

It's so hard to focus on one thing when your poor little brain is trying to fathom out what to write in that last history exam of your life, and trying to trawl through the countless amount of music I receive each week, trying to pick out the best tracks to add to my ever growing CD wallet.

G'day Goldies. It seems as though people really like to stuff me around. The end of year twelve seems to mean that the simple things like truth and respect just fly out the door. First, Albin Myers delivers a massive slice of Summer hotness with his newby, There 4 You. What more do you need. Big piano line, an old school vocal that gets stuck in your head, and just a rockin house groove.

Nightstylers arrive with their cover for Summer, Chase The Sun. Andrew Galea delivers a hot tech mix in fine form, really twisting it round into a stomper!.

Well here we go, another cover. I won't deny, I'm one of the biggest fans of Tears for Fears, I just love their stuff. Steven Lee & Granite have done the goldie "everybody wants to rule the world" absolute justice. I went with the Rauhofer vs Ozborne mix, it just really cuts it for me.

So Promising, But So Difinitive: Charles Haddon, May You Rest In Peace

I regret to inform you royale fans that Charles Haddon, frontman of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, died under unclear circumstances last night.

Oue est la Swimming Pool played at the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium last night. It has been stated that Haddon took his own life, but reasons were not stated.

It's like trying to live in a promised land. The future may be so bright, but negative elements of life provent the positivity from taking hold. However, speculation must be avided in this saddening time.

May you rest in peace.

Equipment failure bigtime!

How's this for a rude awakening. Went to mix a couple golden discs this morning, and my left CDJ decided to stop working didn't it. No matter what I tried, it just wouldn't work. After having someone pull it apart, I found a small bit of plastic from my cd wallet stuck to the laser. How's that for gold. Not!. It gets better. We put it back together, only to find that the motor now wasn't spinning around. Now, as a climax, I have to falk out in order to get it fix. Gold, gold, gold!. Really, not!. Failure!

Hi Guys. I’v decided to post a weekly chart section called the Buzz Charts. I’ll still be posting my “Gold Retrospective” chart each week, which is the main insight into what rocks my world at the moment. This other chart section will hopefully give you guys an accurate insight into what is big in all areas of dance. Gulchard & Fonda!

It's time for me to introduce you to my production alius. It is Gulchard & Fonda. Yeah, strange name, but rather simplistic in it's creation. I listen to a great deal of crime radio. One particular case caught my attention. In this case, the murder victim had the last name of "Gulchard". As for fonda, well, I kind of just made it up.

I've just finished my first EP under G&F, called "Gallion".

The title track, Gallion, is a dance odyssey. It begins as a simplistic, but funky house groove with plenty of growl and distruction behind it. It comes with a heavy driving bassline, and a repetitive synth line through the first half of the track. A Pryda like breakdown in the middle of the track gives it an uplifting approach. The track ends on a high, with all elements in full effect.

The second track, Galliard Otto Gilligan, got it's name in a much stranger fassion. A galliard is an old fassioned Celtic dance. The Name Otto was used to the track's German Tech influence. Well, Gilligan comes from the fact that this track is a bit geeky and a little weird.

Well, there you have it. Gulchard & Fonda. I hope to have audio clips of these tracks up soon, for your listening pleasure.

It's time to go underground and Work That!

You may have noticed that, of late, that Thomas Gold's style has had a significant makeover. I cannot deny, Thomas Gold is a house genious. I've played his stuff as far back as I can remember, therefore, it's always been in my crate (or what I had of one, if you call a pile of records and cds under my arm a crate). Gold returns yet again for another stomping underground release, this time a two-tracker called "Kananga and Work that". This sound is not entirely new for Thomas, or Frank Knebel to his goldies (excuse the pun), as it was heard on his release "The Button" of earlier this year. This "gold" is set to do the business on tech floors worldwide. The fact that it's signed to Toolroom gives it an immediate booster, as Mark Knight can't do no wrong right now. On a personal level, I've seen Thomas Gold give extremely positive feedback on a number of Aussie releases over the last few weeks. Therefore, let's get behind this Australia!. Check him out at,
